I’d like to begin by telling you about the beginnings of Bombers CrossFit.  You may know, Bombers was started in 2013 in our 3-car garage, but before that Bombers truly began in 2009 in my garage in Louisiana, while I was flying B-52 at Barksdale, AFB.  I had a lot of close friends in those flying squadrons who would come over to workout, to hangout, and to do life together.  Bombers Fitness, as we called it back then, moved to Wichita Falls, TX for a few years until in 2013 I left active duty and Mandy and I came home, to Beavercreek.  We considered just keeping the small garage gym setup I had built up since 2009.  Mandy and I had all we needed to WOD together or with a few friends, but that was just it… we didn’t have any friends in the area.  I opened Bombers CrossFit to make a truly great place for my family and friends to be able to work out, to hangout, and to do life together in.  I have a passion for people, and each day I want to try to pass on everything I’ve learned to as many people as I can.

So, in the fall of 2013 Bombers CrossFit was established as a CrossFit Affiliate, and Greg and I began coaching classes in our 3-car garage.  By Thanksgiving we had outgrown the garage, and the winter weather helped force us out.  We moved into our first warehouse space, a 2000sq/ft  “L”.  At first the place felt huge, however we quickly filled up classes.  We had to add classes quickly to keep up with demand.  Then in January 2015 we moved into the current 5000sq/ft space.  After adding a few offices we moved right into this seemingly humongous space, yet we seemed to fill it up quickly as well.  We added the BBC space in January of 2017, and as you know we are rapidly closing in on moving to 2080 Beaver Valley rd where G.A. White is building us a 7000sq/ft facility on 5 acres.

From what started as an hobby in a garage, Mandy, Greg, and I, a couple of barbells and some bumper plates, the need for a greater community and a passion for people and coaching, has quickly transformed into something far greater than I ever imagined.

My vision for Bombers CrossFit:

THE DAYTON AREA’S PREMIERE FITNESS LOCATION, WITH THE MOST PROFESSIONAL, HIGHLY TRAINED COACHES, OUTSTANDING WORLD-CLASS FACILITIES, AND A FRIENDLY, SAFE, ENCOURAGING, FAMILY ENVIRONMENT.

I want to break this down, beginning by becoming the Dayton area’s premiere fitness location.  I want Bombers to be a destination where people from all over the area are able to come and grow physically and mentally, to develop new skills and improve upon old skills and most of all build lasting relationships.

We believe in CrossFit’s prescription of CONSTANTLY VARIED FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENTS PERFORMED AT HIGH INTENSITY.  We program classic CrossFit, varying the time, movements, and weights in an ever changing constant rotation.  We believe that one high intense WOD daily will produce the results we are after.  We program for the best and scale to fit the needs of everyone.  We believe that by challenging you with heavy loading or advanced skills we can push you to reach new goals and shoot to achieve levels of fitness maybe you never though were possible.  All of this is founded in the idea that we can scale all of these movements with the intent of building strength and skill to work towards RX movements.  Intensity is what we aim at, and is the number one way to all the positive benefits from exercise that we want from CrossFit.  By scaling the weight, the reps, or the movement, we are able to reach the desired intensity regardless of your strength, ability, skill, age or any other factor.  We believe that 2 or 3 WODs every day limits our intensity and eliminates the concept of constant variation – this in essence creates a longer workout done at a moderate intensity.  This is one reason we do not always lift before a WOD, or on some days we will only program a lift

We believe strongly in coaching as the foundation of what we offer.  My vision for your Bombers Coaching Staff is the most highly trained and professional in the Dayton area.  My goal is to have the best coaches.  I stand behind your coaches 100%.  Greg and I have poured a tremendous amount of time and energy into developing each of your coaches.  We routinely meet as a team to practice our craft, striving to give you the absolute best experience possible.  This is also why we have worked hard to bring so many seminars to Bombers, such as CF Gymnastics, USAW, and CF Jump Rope.  These seminars have given your coaches valuable knowledge and experience which they then pass on to you.

I have empowered our coaches to be creative and try new things.  I encourage differences in warm-ups and cool-downs, I also encourage your coaches to experiment with different scales and progressions.  Each of our coaches has a uniquely different personality, therefore each class will have a slightly different feel.  Your coaches communicate daily about many different aspects of each class, (how long the warm-up took, or consider setting up the bars this way).  Many times we need to adjust a time cap or a scale and your coaches do an excellent job communicating that to each other.  I love to be able to jump into class and I get the privilege of learning something new each time I WOD.  I also truly love coaching.  My goal for every class I teach is to give you the best hour of your day.

When it comes to giving you the best hour of your day, my vision extends to world-class facilities.  As we moved out of the 3-car garage my aim was to provide a presentable, clean, organized space where 10 athletes could train, learn, and grow.  We moved from one warehouse space to another, along with accumulating more equipment.  The size and scope of our current location is great – however it is just a warehouse space.  Despite all our best efforts to keep Bombers clean and presentable we are in an old warehouse, and many things are out of my control.

As the opportunity arose on the new building we have prayerfully considered each step along the way.  The vision of a world-class facility is becoming a reality as we close in on our move to 2080 Beaver Valley Rd.  I believe the new 7000sq/ft facility and the 5 acres it sits on will provide tremendous opportunities for us all.

Underlying everything we do I want to provide you with a friendly, safe, encouraging, family environment.  As I said my #1 goal for every class I coach is to give you the best hour of your day.  I want Bombers to be the place you can come to after a bad day and feel encouragement.  I want Bombers to be where you are able to start your day off on the right foot.  I want Bombers to be where you can be yourself, make lasting friends, and build positive encouraging relationships.

This is my vision for Bombers CrossFit … and I believe we are well on our way.
