American Chiropractic Associations media spokesperson Karen Erickson, DC, FACC, was featured in  KIWI Magazine about the use of backpack carriers for young babies. According to Dr Erickson, “[baby carriers] are not ideal because they don’t provide head support and parent’s can’t watch to make sure the child’’s head is stable. It’s very important that babies’ heads don;t bop around since their cervical spine is not yet fully developed.” Dr.Erickson suggests sticking to front carriers with leg support until one’s baby can hold their head up and almost sit, which typically happens between seven and eight months of age.
