3 Tips for Cleaning Storm Doors

Choose Appropriate Materials

Cleaning glass can be tricky because some solutions cause fogginess, smears, or streaks on your glass. For best results, use a glass-only cleaner or warm soap and water. Instead of microfiber towels or rags that can leave traces of lint and paper behind, try wiping your door down with coffee filters or newspapers for a streak-free glass finish.

Clean the Frame First Storm Doors

Once you’ve pulled together your cleaning materials, start the process with the door frame. Soap and water will remove dirt and grime rather easily. You can also use a vacuum to suck up dust and debris that’s lodged between your storm door and your front door.

Clean Both Sides

After your door frame is clean and dry, apply your soap solution or glass cleaner to the storm door. Make sure you clean both sides of the glass. If needed, you can remove the glass piece entirely. Have a family member help you do this by gently pinching both sides and sliding the section out of place. Before replacing the glass, allow ample time for drying.
