Now that Heating Season is here again, Absolute Comfort Heating and Air Conditioning wants you to make an inexpensive investment in your home safety that potentially could be a life saver.

Carbon Monoxide is a odorless byproduct of the combustion process that is a known health hazard and killer. Where it becomes so dangerous is that it starves the body of oxygen and can cause loss of consciousness. People get poisoned by it and may not realize that they have problem on their hands.

CO (carbon monoxide) primary sources in the home are from furnaces and water heaters. Other sources can come from fuel powered space heaters, gas stoves and ovens, fireplaces (gas and wood), cars left running in a garage, generators or barbecue grills (gas, propane, and charcoal) placed too close to the house, gas dryers, or wood stoves.

Absolute Comfort recommends that you purchase an adequate number of CO Detectors for your home.  The small cost of these detectors may save your life. A minimum of 1 per floor of living space should be installed in your home.

There are two main types of detectors that you can put in your home, plug in or battery powered.  Some plug in models have a battery backup as well.

Recommended placement should include one in the same room as your furnace/water heater, but not right by those appliances. In the living area, right by your bedrooms so that they can alert you at night.

Carbon Monoxide detectors can be purchased in many stores and online. Home center stores usually have a good selection and allow you to check over the features and prices.

A relatively small dollar amount that can save your life, equip your home with CO detectors today! That is a great investment!
