When your oral surgeon mentions the term “tooth extraction,” it’s natural to feel a little anxious. That’s why locals in the greater Baraboo, WI, area, turn to Oral Surgery Center S.C. for gentle care and satisfying results. As experienced oral surgeons who believe in a compassionate bedside manner, they walk patients through the tooth extraction process on a regular basis. Many patients ask how painful the process will be and if they’ll experience discomfort after the procedure takes place. The good news is, a tooth extraction isn’t as unpleasant as you think!

Jordan University of Science and Technology conducted interviews with patients who had recently gone through a tooth extraction with an oral surgeon to determine the average pain experience. The group consisted of a mix of people who had undergone oral surgery in the past and those who had experienced a limited number of dental procedures. Once the interviews concluded, it was found that while 80% of patients experience pain the evening of their tooth extraction, less than 6% of patients experience pain a week later. Better yet, 20% of patients did not report pain the night of their procedure!

Tooth ExtractionWhile half of the patients surveyed used prescription pain medication to relieve the initial discomfort, most did not need to continue to use these pain medications after a couple of days. While a tooth extraction may sound stressful, your discomfort level should be minimal, and even the most extreme cases will feel back to normal within a week.
